Depending on which test you took, why you took it, and what the results were\u2026 you might be feeling a lot of things.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>If your results were positive<\/strong> (for example, \u201cModerate Depression\u201d), maybe you feel validated. You finally have a name for what you\u2019ve been going through! Still, you might also feel a bit uneasy. What should you do next? Does this mean you need to <a href=\"https:\/\/screening.mhanational.org\/es\/content\/how-does-therapy-work-what-expect\/\">buscar un terapeuta<\/a> or take medication?<\/li>\n<li><strong>If your results were negative<\/strong> (for example, \u201cADHD Unlikely\u201d), you might feel a little bit relieved. But you\u2019re also left with some unanswered questions. Maybe you don\u2019t have ADHD, but you\u2019re still procrastinating a lot and having trouble paying attention in class. You were hoping that ADHD meds could be the solution. How are you supposed to solve the problem now?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Maybe you tested for something you\u2019ve known you had<\/strong> for a long time. Maybe you were hoping your depression symptoms would get better over time, but your Depression Test score <a href=\"https:\/\/screening.mhanational.org\/es\/content\/nothing-helping-my-depression\/\">is actually getting worse<\/a>. Hopefully this inspires you to get the help you need\u2014but it can just as easily make you feel discouraged.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Some mental health conditions<\/strong> have a reputation for being \u201cworse\u201d than others. This reputation is called <strong>stigma<\/strong>. When a mental health condition has a lot of stigma, it may feel insulting to be diagnosed with it\u2014or shameful to talk about it with others. Your first reaction might be denial. \u201cNot me! I\u2019m still in control.\u201d You might be tempted to retake the test over and over. \u201cMaybe I exaggerated a little the first time. Maybe if I change my answers <em>just a little<\/em>, I can prove that I really don\u2019t have a problem\u2026\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are all perfectly normal reactions! Millions of people take our mental health tests every year\u2014and most of them probably go through similar thoughts and feelings. The first thing to know is that <em>you\u2019re not alone!<\/em> It\u2019s okay to take some time to process the new information you\u2019ve just learned about yourself.<\/p>\n<p>But sooner or later, it\u2019ll be time to act. Here are some of the next steps you might take:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Get a second opinion<\/strong>\u2014are the results from these tests really accurate? What do they mean for me? You might also consider taking a few more mental health tests while you\u2019re here. Many people deal with multiple mental health conditions at once. Maybe \u201cdepression\u201d does an ok job of describing your experiences, but \u201cbipolar disorder\u201d is more accurate.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Learn all you can<\/strong> about whatever mental health condition you tested positive for. Knowledge is power, after all! This website has <a href=\"https:\/\/screening.mhanational.org\/es\/learn\/\">lots of information about many mental health conditions<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Learn from people with lived experience<\/strong>. Don\u2019t spend all your time on WebMD. Find ways to hear from people who have been through the same things you\u2019re going through. Lots of people share their stories in online communities like Reddit and TikTok or on websites like The Mighty. (By the way, everything on this website was written and reviewed by people living with mental health conditions!)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tell someone you trust<\/strong>. Dealing with mental health problems on your own can feel very lonely. It\u2019s easy to feel lost and overwhelmed. <a href=\"https:\/\/screening.mhanational.org\/es\/content\/should-i-talk-to-someone-about-my-mental-health\/\">Talking about what you\u2019re going through<\/a> can help you feel less alone and move forward.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Try <a href=\"https:\/\/screening.mhanational.org\/es\/diy\/\">herramientas de autoayuda<\/a> o <a href=\"https:\/\/screening.mhanational.org\/es\/content\/how-can-i-improve-my-mental-health-my-own\/\">lifestyle changes<\/a><\/strong>. Mental health is all about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Things like journalling, mental health workbooks, getting more physical activity, or improving your sleeping habits can go a long way in helping you feel better.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Get formal treatment<\/strong>, like therapy or medication. This can be intimidating for a lot of people. Not everyone has an easy time accessing treatment\u2014and not everyone needs it. But it\u2019s okay to need this kind of help! Sometimes our friends, family, and self-care can only get us so far.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Test again in a few weeks.<\/strong> Taking a mental health test every few weeks can help you track how you\u2019re doing over time. Is your anxiety getting worse or better? Are things you\u2019re trying helping, or do you need more support? Even if you got a low score (\u201cmild depression\u201d or \u201cPTSD negative\u201d), you came here for a reason\u2014maybe your mild depression was a warning sign of harder times to come.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Improving our mental health is a lifelong journey for all of us.
