Need to talk to someone? (Warmlines)

Warmlines were created to give people support when they just need to talk to someone. Speaking to someone on these calls are typically free, confidential, and run by people who understand what it’s like to struggle with mental health problems.

What to know before you call

It’s best to call a warmline in your own state. If one doesn’t exist or it is busy, you can try a warmline below in another state that is close to you and provides national service. Some lines have limits in the amounts of time you can call. For example, they might tell you up front that they can only speak to you for an hour. Others have unlimited time and do not stop conversations until you are ready.

When you call, they might ask for some information, like where are you calling from. Please note: All times of operation are listed according to the time zones where each warmline is located. If you call a warmline in a different timezone, pay attention to the change in time.

Warmlines are for support and can link you to a crisis hotline if you need support for suicidal thoughts or crisis. If you are in crisis and do not need a warmline, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK, or text “MHA” to 741-741 to talk to a trained counselor from the Crisis Text Line.
